THE ARTIST
As with many artists, I began with a natural talent for art and have seen the world with an "artist's eye" since the day I could hold a pencil. Entering professional artist status in my late teens, my works were published in Canadian periodicals, "The Westcoast Fisherman" and "Extreme Magazine" as well as the illustrations in a sports training book entitled "Going Long". My fine art is award winning, and my commissions can be seen in personal art galleries across Canada, the USA, France, the United Kindgom, Australia and Switzerland. I am also an accomplished graphic designer and web designer.
My preferred mediums are graphite pencil and pen & ink, though I also do many works using coloured pencil, watercolour, and acrylic paint. One of my favourite techniques using pen & ink is called "stippling". It is the art of applying dots to create a complete image. This technique is highly time-consuming, but the finished affect highly realistic when done well.
I was nominated and accepted as a juried representing artist with Art for Critters (A4C) in 2006 and remain an active supporter. Art for Critters is a non-profit organization dedicated to connecting artists willing to donate a percentage of their art sales to rescues that provide sanctuary and aid to all animals. A portion of my art sales go to Knick-O-Time Horse Rescue in Longmont, Colorado.
